MFA Generator/Motor

This was originally produced as a 1.5 to 3.0 volt electric motor. But it can be turned by a steam engine and used as a dynamo instead. Also, whilst its base is not exactly Meccano-compatible, its fixing holes spaced at 24.6 mm will just fit into Meccano 12.7/25.4 mm spaced holes, if you use M3 bolts rather than the standard Meccano ones. Granted, it is a bit of a bodge – but it works! Better still, it’s a bodge that’s almost unnoticeable. See for yourself. The images below show an MFA motor on a simple Meccano “bench“.
